BILINGUAL EDUCATION
It dooms the child to second class,
With English will the child advance;
The motive is so very crass,
It would more adult jobs enhance.
They cite a culture old and proud,
But many others make that claim;
To emigration they have bowed,
To new attachment should they aim.
Remedial lessons should provide,
Transition from the native tongue;
Ambition should be dignified,
To help to spur the very young.
The child well led would English learn,
Both parents try to do the same;
They can't afford to language spurn,
For handicaps they'll be the blame.
Well paying jobs need language skill,
And reading does all learning need;
Poor reading will all classes kill,
And early language plants the seed.
The culture can at home be taught,
Or else in later school room days;
Proficiency should first be sought,
To learn American thinking ways.
In business everyone competes,
With speech the underlying force;
Don't let your culture's false conceits,
Estop your child from this resource.
