TO SER WITH LOVE (11/15/81--10/7/96)

To canine paradise he went,
Beloved friend of many years;
Much happiness his presence lent,
Today remembered by my tears.

A tiny puppy when we met,
He grew to think like humans do;
His loyalty I can't forget,
Each day my love much greater grew.

Oh how he loved his playtime duck,
How fast he ran to bring him back;
When hid by me, he'd run amuck,
Too bad the rubber could not quack.

I often found him on my bed,
It was his fav'rite place to curl;
For like a human he was bred,
To me he was a canine pearl.

At night he was good company,
So comforting within my sight;
To any fear a remedy,
His presence was a sheer delight.

Excitement always made him sneeze,
He chased things I could never see;
Through doggy door, he loved to squeeze,
But happiest when back with me.

Intrepid was his great big heart,
With downhill skiing did he thrill;
Wind surfing soon became an art,
Of sport he never got his fill.

On ten speed bike and rollerblade,
He almost acted quite blase;
He always rode so unafraid,
He acted like on holiday.

So unconditional his love,
He waited oh so patiently;
As if full guided from Above,
He did so much to pleasure me.

I'm grateful for the years I had,
The time God granted custody;
Unto my life much joy he'd add,
I won't forget his memory.
