HELP YOUR BROTHER

Hold out your hand to one in need
Without a promise of reward;
Don't let a stranger start to bleed
Because your help you won't accord.

We all need help a time or two,
When both to God and man we plead;
When all our hopes fly up the flue,
And golden memories recede.

A warming smile, a gentle touch,
A sincere word of sympathy;
It does not take so very much
To cure a spirit's malady.

It's of ourselves we have to give,
A gift that's found within our soul;
For in that way we all can live,
If one another we console.
