SWIFT AND SURE

Such bloody crimes in daily news,
The while officials do but snooze;
They wring their hands and loudly speak,
But oft do less than noses tweak.

Such carnage will not go away,
Those guilty will no laws obey;
Unless we fight them tooth and nail,
All rhetoric will not avail.

Our actions must be swift and sure,
For namby-pamby deeds won't cure;
The punishment must be severe,
To bring to felons much to fear.

Convicted should be long confined,
With prison life an awful grind;
The thugs should dread another term,
The thought of which would make them squirm.

For bloody deeds there's no excuse,
No sympathy for their abuse;
Society can not permit
Such thugs to ever law outwit.
