AN OLDSTER'S REGRET
Our yesterdays will fade away,
But leave a golden afterglow;
In memory they'll always stay,
Each year improvement will they show.
Our deeds were virtuous and pure,
A slight mistake just here and there;
But all such errors did we cure,
In memory we all were fair.
We only have but one regret,
The sin we never did commit;
The Devil's lure we can't forget,
We're sorry we did not submit.
Temptation always has such charm,
So many reasons why we should;
Somehow we know there would be harm,
But why! Oh why! was I so good?
