FROM WHENCE

Is all of life but happenstance,
Did all evolve purely by chance?
By whom were nature's laws decreed?
Survival was not born by creed.

So difficult to all explain,
Without some far off guiding brain;
Some inconvenient facts emerge,
Which sound a scientific dirge.

We can not prove that God exists,
Religion tells its tales in mists;
Yet better than pure accident,
When many Faiths are evident.

Self serving does each Faith still seem,
But ever are they mankind's dream;
A God would be a better choice,
With One all mankind could rejoice.

Sol the SageFOR PEACE TO COME

The guns are still, we hold our breath,
Will peace prevail o'er senseless death?
Can greed and hate be overcome,
Or will we follow warlike drum?

It's easier to maim and kill,
For that we have perfected skill.
But hates and habits do not change;
We have to learn to peace arrange.

So peace hangs on a slender thread,
A peace some leaders seem to dread;
Fomenting anger to divert
>From all domestic forms of hurt.

Such leaders must be put to rest,
Their nations face a crucial test;
Will they rise up to pull him down,
Or will they share his thorny crown?
