IRISH PEACE - APRIL 1998

In Ireland there's a peace accord,
With compromise the leading cause;
So tired of living 'neath a sword,
The parties do now rate applause.

Almost a century of war,
So many people killed in vain;
Perhaps they can now peace restore,
And end so many years of pain.

We hope the "hot heads" on each side
Will peace accept in lieu of war;
Suspicion is so hard to hide,
But killing should be nevermore.

Once people truly want to talk,
And listen to the just complaints,
At compromise they will not balk,
On own demands will find restraints.

If only we could stop each feud,
Which are by hate, suspicion fed,
If on the past all would not brood,
Perhaps to peace they would be led.
