AN OLD FRIEND'S VOICE

Our lives sometimes fall in a rut,
We hate the same old dull routine;
The things we liked now seem to glut,
As boredom dominates our scene.

All sunny days seem tinged in gray,
Our fav'rite dish now tastes so stale;
And rainy days forever stay,
There is no hill, there is no dale.

It's such a chore to just get up,
Forgetful sleep becomes a lure;
We drink from such a bitter cup,
Depression can not find a cure.

Then suddenly an old friend's call,
Warm memories in cheerful voice;
Reminding us that life's a ball,
So off to meet him and rejoice.
