EVOLUTION IS PATIENT

When life to life friendship extends,
And custom does such deeds reward,
When man can love his foes as friends,
Then plowshares will replace our swords.

For man is still a savage beast,
An eon from eternity;
To whom a body has been leased,
To house a soul we can not see.

Through stages evolution works,
For love and kindness to evolve;
But man too many chances shirks,
Desire does all the vows dissolve.

But nature waits so patiently,
For man to learn all lessons well;
It knows it has eternity,
No soul would it send on to Hell.
