AN ENVIED SOUL

Some people have no tale of woe,
No crisis rears its ugly head;
Their unknown problems never show,
Of pain they never yet have bled.

But yet deep down there is unease,
A vague discomfort with their life;
So even happy times can't please,
They're lost in total inner strife.

Close friends can't find the slightest clue,
They can not see beyond facade;
While hidden devils troubles brew,
The envied soul through life does plod.

When pent up fury does explode,
All friends are caught in deep surprise;
That inner rage that never showed,
Was too well hidden in disguise.

We never know another's plight,
Unruffled is the surface view;
The face that harbors much delight,
May charm us all, but be untrue.
