EXECUTION OF A FAITHLESS FRIEND
A tooth and I must part our ways,
It's been an old and trusted friend;
It's now been hurting me for days,
And so our friendship has to end.
I wined and dined him all the time,
His image I would polish too;
The pain he's caused is such a crime,
So there's but one thing left to do.
An abscess got beneath that tooth,
And very soon began to ache;
I thought such action was uncouth,
So drastic steps I have to take.
To former friend I say goodbye,
His treason I can never brook;
At pain of parting I won't cry,
Instead I'll read a funny book.
But afterward I dare not smile,
I'd look like Freckles in "Our Gang";
The empty space is not my style,
I won't display my fearsome fang.
