A LEADER'S ROLE

The role of leader most will shun,
We fear responsibilities;
Some others must make nation run,
We're safe in anonymity.

For most would rather live like sheep,
And bleat our fill when things seem wrong;
While others try, we will but sleep,
Not satisfied for very long.

Millennia have seen the same,
With critics oft in danger found;
They'd place some blame without much shame,
But oft they'd do it underground.

Most people are not leaders born,
In life they would not want to star;
When out in front they are forlorn,
They much prefer to be afar.
