OUR SECRET HEART

OUR SECRET HEART
So secret is our hidden heart,
To none would we its truth unfold;
We're very loath to even start,
So invitations leave us cold.
So many thoughts we would not share,
The private vagaries of mind;
All random ghosts we can not bare,
We dare not let them unconfined.
For all have secret reveries,
And longings we would not admit;
Desires sometimes souls will seize,
Though morals tell the opposite.
We may resist, but thoughts persist,
But we must hide this awful fact;
We lock these secrets in a mist,
Although at times they reenact.
