WHEN LOVED ONES SUFFER
Some sadness we can't overcome,
The depth of feeling leaves us numb;
Our loved one aches in suffering,
Good wishes have a hollow ring.
We pray but know not what to say,
For if the pain will not give way,
Perhaps it's better if they die,
If for relief they daily cry.
We humans can't decide our fate,
For pain there's no one to berate;
"Cheer up" is easy just to tell,
But not when hope has gone to Hell.
