SELF FORGIVENESS

SELF FORGIVENESS
To self we justify our deed,
In self we have to expiate;
Forgiveness we will later need,
Self hate will only Hell create.
We must accept the brutal fact,
That all of us commit some sin;
For Karma will its debt exact,
In life we can not always win.
We can resolve to do our best,
To face regret for what we've done;
Let's let our future then attest,
This was a solitary one.
We can redeem all thoughtless harm,
By being truly penitent;
Let's not let all our devils swarm,
Just prove to self we can repent.
Then in our Faith we can go on,
Full knowing lapses may occur;
But sackcloth we don't have to don,
Our sin to greater deeds a spur.
