SENSELESS SLAUGHTER

SENSELESS SLAUGHTER

So many tales of human war,
Each tribe would try to conquer all;
Invaders came to every shore,
Each victor would himself soon fall.

These restless tides of humankind,
With waves of ever stronger might,
Soon found their conquests undermined,
By famine, plague, or other blight.

Such senseless slaughter still goes on,
With modern weapons on the rise;
Such pious poses people don,
Unmindful of their old and wise.

Our God in Heaven wonders why,
His people still will act this way;
Why victor won't hear victim's cry,
The while for peace all people pray.
