PLAGUED BY LITIGATION
All hospitals follow routine,
By orders are the nurses bound;
No deviation from this seen,
With innovations seldom found.
Most doctors follow certain rules,
With liability concerned;
Since laws are then enforced by fools,
With dedicated doctors burned.
Malpractice should be well defined,
Omitting technicalities;
With course of treatment well designed,
The courts should shun hypotheses.
Hindsight can always find some fault,
The doctor made decisions then;
His judgement should not face assault,
The future not within his ken.
Attorneys fight for greater fees,
Injustice is a minor point;
Malpractice should have penalties,
But lawyers we should not anoint.
Blue ribbon panels we should choose,
Doctors and laymen they'd include;
Some minor glitch they should excuse,
And sympathy they should exclude.
