LOVE'S DREAM

Is love a fantasy we dream,
Beguiled by nature's strong appeal?
Are its emotions too extreme,
Do we express the way we feel?

Romance is by the poets stressed,
Through centuries it's been extolled;
By sex so many are obsessed,
All generations have enrolled.

The cynic laughs at poet's word,
For such delusion he won't fall;
He thinks all lovers are absurd,
He would not be another's thrall.

Yet love has triumphed through the years,
A solace in our time of stress;
It brings much joy, but also tears,
Each couple makes it more or less.
